Is Josh Groban A Baritone Or Tenor?
Good question. Many people consider Josh a baritone, but his official website says he is a tenor. Based on the music from Closer, we know that Josh can at least go up to Bb5, which is higher than mst baritones can go. (See You Rasise Me Up, measure #49.) If Josh sings a Bb55 on his album, it’s reasonable to believe that he can go a little higher. But his vocal quality is closer to a baritone’s.
In 2004, Josh Groban was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance for “You Raise Me Up” at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards and he won.
